Ever feel like you have woke up with a hangover but haven't drank?

That was me yesterday.  I normally get about 5 -6 hours’ sleep a night, wake around 3am and start my XLR8 day.  I love this time of the morning as I get to get everything done and plan and prepare for the amazing day ahead.

Yesterday was different, I slept through till 7am after about nine hours sleep.  Now you think I would be feeling amazing for having so much sleep but I felt groggy, had a terrible headache, my back hurt and I just felt off.

Since I don't drink much these days (could literally count on one hand the amount of times I have drank in the last year) I have not had a hangover for some time.  But this morning I felt like I had been partying all night except I was hydrated.  Every symptom for a hangover I had.

So what causes you to feel this way and has anyone else felt like it? So off I went to Google to find out and I laughed at myself with the question to Google.

"Why do I feel like I have a hangover without having a drink?"

In the past, I used to consume a fair bit of alcohol and would quite frequently wake up with a hangover on a Saturday morning, feeling like crap and would waste a whole day lying around on the couch, eating anything and everything fried and drink gallons of soft drink....but I never once googled...Why do I have a hangover" the events the night before pretty much answered that question.  "No I don't want a shot, OH OK just one more!"

The answers that came back to me on search about why I felt like I was hungover but hadn't drank were varied.  Here are some:

  1. Sugar Hangover

Too much sugar the day before.  Now I knew this wasn't the case due to my commitment to XLR8.  Just in case some sneaky sugars made their way into my food without noticing I checked to ensure I was in fat burning mode with our XLR8 Ketone Strips and yes all was good

  1. Sleep Medications

No I don't take sleeping tablets.

  1. Viral Illness

This could be it, I have been working extremely long hours maybe this is the start of getting sick.

  1. Gut Fermentation Syndrome

This rare syndrome causes the abdomen to produce ethanol naturally. Researchers have identified a type of yeast in the gut that causes the syndrome. The body naturally produces a type of alcohol that can have an intoxicating effect without even drinking. The symptoms include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Anxiety attacks
  • Disorientation
  • Dizziness
  1. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  2. Caffeine Withdrawal
  3. Migraine Headache

A migraine headache does not always begin with just head pain. Migraines have an "aura" that can be a range of feelings before they start. An aura isn't necessarily something you see, but something that you feel before the pain comes on. Symptoms of a migraine aura include:

  • Fuzzy or blurred vision
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Weakness
  • Fatigue
  1. Generalized Fatigue

If you wake up feeling hungover, you may have just overdone things the day before. Feeling overtired can sometimes cause other symptoms other than just fatigue.

This is definitely the ONE!

On Sunday morning I woke at 2.45am (a little earlier than I normally do) but I was excited, nervous and anxious about appearing on Channel 7 that night and I wanted to ensure I was prepared.

Sunday is my "GET ORGANISED DAY' It is the day we wrap up our previous weeks XLR8-ed 7 Day riders.  It is the day before our new XLR8-ed Riders start so need to get them all ready, account activated, emails sent etc.

I also try and write my blogs and articles this day.  I collect ideas through the week and plan and write them today.

It's to schedule for next week, banners, website design, product details, stock count to ensure enough stock on hand, drop off customer orders, speak with as many people I can to help them on their ride etc.

The other thing I like to do is my weekly shop and get prepared for the week ahead with meals, food prepared in the fridge.

It's a busy day for me but I love it.

As I wake so early I always try and have a nap in the afternoon for about 1/2 hour to recharge and get ready for my XLR8 Riders in the evening.

As I was about to have my "little nap" I received a text saying our story was going to be seen in Sydney as well.

So that ended me having a rest as I was too excited....

When I finally got to bed that night it was 11.43pm, tired exhausted and a bit emotionally drained.

So I had been going pretty much straight for 21 hours and then did it again on Monday as we were so busy from the airing of our story.

So by the time I got to bed Monday night I had had only about 6 hours sleep in 2 days and this is why I felt like I was hungover on Tuesday I had simply over did it and did not get the right sleep I normally do.

So if you ever feel like you have woken up with a hangover and haven't had a drink. Rest up be kind to yourself and it goes away, as today I have woke up feeling amazing again.

I smashed some XLR8 THREE into me yesterday and I feel alive ready to take on the world again and spread my message!
